I had no idea mixed martial arts competitions were illegal in New Brunswick. Are you saying it's essentially illegal based on the small weight of the gloves?

And what about Taekwondo competitions? Don't they use little gloves?

I really think New Brunswick needs to embrace this sport. It's not going away, that's for sure. I think there is an MMA club somehere in Minto by the way. I know a high school kid who drives down all the way down from Woodstock just to attend.

Great post, TJ. I remember when Gracie choked Shamrock out. Those were the days. Now I'm hooked to Spike TV and Ultimate Fighter, especially Team Serra vs. Team Hughes (reruns). Even thought "the farmboy" got beat by Mac Danzig, ya had to like him.

Hey TJ,

You’re right, these guys ARE highly skilled, highly trained and extremely athletic.

I’ve seen the TV show “The Ultimate Fighter” a few times and it confirms for me all of the above – those guys are in phenomenal condition – I only wish! Back in my uni days, I shared a house with a couple of TKD black belts and I know the training they did every day to stay at the top of their game. We’re seeing the same thing with the UFC – these guys are the modern gladiators.
